Very good shoot of a nice place. The structure hosting L'oiseau Dodo (The Dodo Bird) was originally a boat terminal in Venice. There are three of this kind on the Seine.

@ Vogon Poet - I should have known you would know about this...you are the most knowledgeable person I've ever known I think. I'm not kidding now; I'm paying you a compliment.

I think you are naturally curious, ask a lot of questions, and your mind is like a sponge.

Me? I just kind of dodder along. Of course, I'm a lot older and doddering is what we old folks do best.

:-)

@ Jacob - Please don't take my love for Paris for more or worse than what it is. I enjoyed this photo and I didn't resist spilling out my stories... Please, forgive MY doddering!

I've never eaten on any of the "boat" restaurants on the Seine. Maybe some day.

@ VP - I love your doddering, only I don't think it's doddering, it's erudite and informed knowledge.

And you have to remember I've never seen most of Europe and compared to yourself, know next to nothing!

So, I'm very appreciative of any info, insights or doddering comments you share!

I don't remember seeing this. So it's reason 1020 to return to Paris.

Is it cold there?

@ Valery - This was taken in June of 2007...it was cool but not cold.

@ Tapirgal - At the time, it was docked just below the Musee d'Orsay.

@ Starman - We didn't eat there, either, but will try it the next time we visit. Our time was very limited. We did celebrate our 50th anniversary with dinner at the Eiffel Tower, though.

Hope all is well!

One of «Louis's» regrets about his time in France is that he never took one of the boat rides on the Seine, not to mention have dinner on one of them.

What a beautiful photo - imagine sailing gently along the Seine eating a lovely dinner and watching the sights of Paris pass slowly by - what could be more wonderful.

@ Louis - Louis will just have to go back and rectify that situation!
