This view of La Trocadero and beyond was taken from the first level of the Eiffel Tower by Lois Anne with a little Canon point-and-shoot. The photo has been posterized.
You get pretty much the same view from Altitude 95, the restaurant on the fist level. If you haven't dined there, you should give it a try. It's a bit pricey (of course) but well worth it.
Starman - On June 29, 2007, Lois Anne and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Altitude 95!
It was wonderful!
Sitting next to us was a young German couple. He whispered in my ear that he planned to propose to his girlfriend and would I take some photos...then he slipped me a small camera.
As he knelt, with the whole restaurant watching, he proposed and I took the requisite photos...

Great view with La Défense skyscrapers in background. The same merry-go-round was still there last week.
This is one of the world's greatest views. Thanks for posting it guys. I needed that.

It was terrific.
I wonder if they are married yet?
Great story Jacob, they found the right guy for their photos!
Nice romantic touch to the post re your German couple!
Here's the story of why there are so very few skyscrapers INSIDE Paris as witnessed by your view from la tour Eiffel:
Merci, Baron Haussmann.
Thanks, Louis. And thanks for the link re: Haussmann...such an interesting story and I think Parisians owe him a huge debt!
