Tomb of Lyautey

Lyautey's tomb is in the l'Eglise du Dome. It is my understanding that he was a French military hero of some note. Years ago, when in the Navy, I spent a few days at the Port Lyautey Naval Base in Morocco. I'd like to think that base was named for this French military hero, but I've been unable to verify that.

It's certainly right because in France I have seen many tributes to heroes and many monuments as well!
A beautiful and perfect shot Jacob!

I am quite sure that you are right about him and Port Lyautey. Great image of an original tomp.

I don't about the naval base, but there is a Place Maréchal Lyautey in Lyon. You can see a picture here: http://www.lyon-photos.com/diaporama/grande_387.htm

I like the tomb and I like the surroundings, I usually like the ornamentation, but the leaves and casket don't seem to go with the blue spotchy marble. In real life did it look incongruous, or did it look right in the setting? Anyway, I love the photo, and I really enjoy seeing these locations. I love all of the different ways of doing things, this just seemed like the designers hit a mismatched chord!

@ Tapirgal - You know, I really didn't notice, but it must have looked okay...but now, taking a second look, I can see what you mean. Strange!
