I once read a reply from a sculptor (I can't remember who) when asked how he did it. He said, "I just chip away all the pieces that don't belong".
That's funny, Starman! Of course, you'd better know which pieces don't belong. I'd start out doing this and end up with a battleship or something!

This reminds me that Philadelphia has a museum that I think has the largest Rodin collection in the world. It also reminds me that we had a small statue of Rodin's "The Kiss" in my house during my childhood.
